Hurriyat Conference (M) on Monday paid rich tributes to eight youth who were killed in forces’ firing at central Kashmir’s Budgam and Ganderbal districts on April 9 last year on polling day.

In a statement, Hurriyat (M) said that the killing of innocent eight youth would be added as a painful and one of the black chapters of Kashmir history.

Hurriyat (M) said that Kashmiri people have always rejected the Delhi’s plans of enacting an election as people have always boycotted these elections and tried to convey that Kashmir issue is not related to holding polls but the issue of 1.25  crore people whose fate is hanging in balance due to Delhi’s “forcible control”.

It said that Kashmir issue is purely political and human in nature which can be resolved by implementing the right to self-determination by allowing the people to decide their fate.

Hurriyat (M) said the people of Kashmir have been fighting for their birthright from 1947 in general and from 1989 in particular and that the people have rendered priceless sacrifices of life and property only to pave way for the long-lasting resolution of Kashmir issue.

“Due to the iron fist policy of Delhi and its mentality of dealing people of Kashmir militarily, every lane of Kashmir is witnessing a bloodbath, and young boys are being killed. It was because of the unabated repression in Kashmir and the reign of terror unleashed by the forces, young and educated youth of Kashmir are picking up arms as a mean of resistance as they have been pushed to the wall,” Hurriyat (M) said.

The conglomerate strongly condemned the detention of dozens of activists of Dukhtaran-e-Millat while they were on way to Shopian to express their solidarity with the families of slain youth.

Hurriyat (M) also denounced the frequent cordon and search operations across south and north Kashmir wherein people irrespective of their age are asked to remain outside while properties are being vandalized.

“Under these operations in various villages of Pulwama that include Newa, Chewoora,  Aswara, Malpora, Batapora, Littergam, Qalampora and Drabgaam, forces have unleashed a new wave of terror by harassing and detaining youth without any justification,” Hurriyat spokesman said.
