‘If Afzal & Maqbool were Terrorists, Why Couldn’t Delhi’s Proxies Celebrate Hangings Here’

Independent MLA Er Rasheed Tuesday asked New Delhi to introspect if Mohammad Afzal Guru and Mohammad Maqbool Bhat “were terrorists, why people observed a complete shutdown to protest against their hangings”.

Addressing a function organized at party headquarters today, he said, “had Afzal Guru been a terrorist then at least the so-called main stream political parties could have managed to get even half a dozen people in Lal Chowk or somewhere else to celebrate the day, but from Karnah to Kishtwar every house hold is mourning the death and condemning the state of India for hangings. The anger and the sentiments of every Kashmiri is ample proof to prove that Kashmiris respect Afzal and Maqbool the same way as Indians respect Subash Chander Bose, Bhagat Singh and Sukh Dev. Though state by hanging Afzal Guru tried to prove that might is right but the way every Kashmiri including kids at their homes want to know about Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru, proves that right is might.”

Meanwhile, a statement issued by Rasheed’s party said that AIP is holding a one-day seminar on eve of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat’s anniversaries tomorrow on 10th February 2016, 10 AM at hotel Lala Rukh titled: “Why Selective Hangings.”
