Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) Jammu and Kashmir Saturday said that it views with profound concern the “vitiating of atmosphere in Kashmir’s educational Institutions by state agencies on different pretexts”.

“It is highly unfortunate that Kashmiri students are living under constant fear and threat of harassment even in Campuses of educational institutions which are supposed to remain safe from such interventions,” a statement issued by IJT said Saturday evening.

“The unbridled powers enjoyed by the state agencies have emboldened them to disregard even the sacrosanct academic complexes of higher learning and research, resulting into physical and psychological disturbances therein,” the IJT statement added.

The IJT said that the abduction of Kashmir University student, Muzamil Ahmad Dar, by Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police “speaks volumes about the safety of students in the state”.

“The incident is highly shameful and a flagrant violation of human rights. IJT condemns the dastardly act and demands immediate release of the student and restoration of academic atmosphere in the Campus,” the statement said.
