Iltija Mufti Criticises Proposal to Use IAF Aircraft for NEET-UG Paper Transport Amid Retest Preparations

SRINAGAR: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Friday criticised reports that the Centre is considering the use of Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft to transport NEET-UG question papers for the upcoming retest scheduled on June 21, calling it a reflection of “incompetence and ineptitude”.

In a post on X, Iltija remarked that the idea of deploying Air Force planes for transporting examination papers highlighted what she described as systemic failures in managing the examination process. She also made political remarks linking the issue to broader social concerns.

The proposal to use IAF aircraft was discussed during a high-level meeting in New Delhi chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, with Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in attendance. However, officials have stated that no final decision has been taken yet, and the matter is expected to be placed before Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approval.

The consideration comes in the backdrop of the cancellation of the NEET-UG examination held on May 3 by the National Testing Agency (NTA) following allegations of a question paper leak. The re-examination has been scheduled for June 21.

The alleged paper leak is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is probing irregularities linked to the conduct of the examination.
