SRINAGAR: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has cleared the way for the recruitment of 669 Sub-Inspectors in the Jammu and Kashmir Police, bringing relief to aspirants and allowing the process to move ahead.
The recruitment pertains to 669 Sub-Inspector posts advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) for the Police Department. The notification had drawn significant interest from candidates across the Union Territory.
The tribunal’s decision is being viewed as a key development for aspirants awaiting progress in the recruitment process, which had been under legal scrutiny.
The JKSSB had issued the recruitment notification for the posts in the Police Department, with selection to be conducted through a written examination and other prescribed stages under the notified procedure.
The CAT order is expected to facilitate further progress in the recruitment exercise, although detailed legal and administrative implications are likely to become clearer once the authorities formally respond to the ruling. (KNT)
