PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti, speaking to someone on phone, the day when PM Narendra Modi’s addressed a rally at SK Stadium on November 07, 2014.

PDP President and MP Mehbooba Mufti, who is being pitted as the next Chief Minister of J&K, Saturday brushed aside a question on her possibility to step into her Dad’s shoes.

Mehbooba was speaking at the HT Leadership Summit in New Delhi today.

When she was asked a question about the possibility of her succeeding her father as Chief Minister, Mehbooba replied, “I am not comfortable with this question please. I don’t want to think about it. I am working for the people and will continue to do so.”

To a question whether “communal incidents happening in mainland India” was affecting the PDP-BJP alliance in the state which saw death of a young trucker being killed by “fringe elements”, she said, “the murderers have been booked and tough action has been taken. This is what counts. Statements can be there but at the end it’s the action that counts.”

“If Kashmiris chose to be part of India, we need to be treated specially. If there is Article 370, then we will have a more stronger bond with India,” Mehbooba she added.
