In 2022, Jamia Masjid Remained Closed For 14 Fridays: Anjuman Auqaf

SRINAGAR: Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar said that Jamia Masjid remained closed for 14 Fridays in 2022.

The Anjuman issued a statement on Friday regretting the continued prevention of Mirwaiz Umer Farooq from heading the Friday prayers. It said he has not been permitted to move out of gis residence since August 5, 2019.

The Anjuman said after the LG’s statement it had hoped that the Mirwaiz would be released, but that has not happened so far. It now hopes that as the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the blessed month of the birth of the Messenger of Allah Prophet Muhammad (SAW),  Mirwaiz will be released.

Meanwhile, Anjuman also clarified that post covid Jamia Masjid has been closed for prayers for  14 Fridays by the authorities,  this year so far.
