In the past three years, the State Vigilance Organization (SVO) has registered 224 cases against the officials in the state while only two among them have been Challaned so far.

According to the data available on the website of State Vigilance Organization, 99 cases have been registered against the officials in Jammu while 125 cases have been registered in Kashmir.

“The cases against the officials of different department have been booked under different cases which include Demand of bribe, tempering in revenue records, fake appointments. Looting state exchequer by committing fraud, embezzlement of funds and others,” reveals the website.

“Among 99 cases, one case has not been proved while the remaining cases are still under investigation. Among 125 cases in Kashmir, one case was not proved while two more have been Challaned,” the data available on jkvigililence.nic.in read.

The data reveals that 220 cases registered against the officials in Jammu and Kashmir since 2013 are still under investigation. “In 2013, 19 cases were registered against officials in Kashmir among which two have been Challaned and one was not proved while in Jammu region, 17 cases were registered and one among the cases was not proved,” document read.

“In 2014, 44 cases were registered against officials in Kashmir while as in Jammu 35 cases were registered against officials. In 2015, 55 cases were registered in Kashmir and in Jammu, 43 cases were registered,” document read, adding that in 2016, 6 officials were booked in different cases in Kashmir while as in Jammu 4 cases were registered so far.

“From 2014-April 2016, not a single case has been Challaned,” documents said.

Meanwhile, according to a senior official in State Vigilance Organization on condition of anonymity told KNS that they start the investigation after registering FIR’s. “The departments in the state are not cooperative due to which the cases remain under investigation for long time,” an official said.

He said, “Whenever we seek cooperation from the department regarding the officials who have been booked, they always show reluctance to cooperate. Thus, simultaneously the cases against the officials remain under investigation,” an official said, adding that the departments should cooperate with the organization so that the cases pending in the Anti-corruption court against officials will be solved.
