Uri Accident on May 12, 2016

Five persons were declared dead when the car they were travelling in met an accident in North Kashmir’s Uri.

Reports and local sources told Kashmir Life that the accident happened around 6:30 AM on Thursday at Larabal area.

“A Maruti car, JK05B: 5422, was on way to Uri from Silikote aboard which were five persons,” locals said.

“The car skidded of the road and fell into Haji Peer Nallah resulting in on spot death of four persons. On injured was rushed to SDH Uri where he succumbed to his injuries,” SHO Uri Gh Mohammad Rather said.

The deceased have been identified as Silikote Sarpanch Gh Hassan Chalkoo, 55; his son Imran Ahmad (21); Mushtaq Ahmad Aiwan (19); Imtiyaz Chalkoo (30) and Asif Ahmad (14).

Silikote village is the last village on this side of Kashmir in Uri. Locals said that the road condition of the area is worse.

Meanwhile, MLA Uri, Mohammad Shafi, has expressed deep shock over the incident. Expressing condolences to the bereaved families, he impressed upon authorities to construct new roads in the area.
