SRINAGAR: Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said India is likely to receive its first bullet train on August 15, 2027, marking a major milestone in the country’s high-speed rail ambitions.

Briefing the media in New Delhi, the Minister said the country’s first bullet train project is currently under construction on the Ahmedabad–Mumbai corridor. He stated that the initial section to be commissioned will be the Surat–Bilimora stretch, followed by the Vapi–Surat section.
Vaishnaw added that work on the remaining portions of the corridor is progressing as per schedule, and the government is closely monitoring the project to ensure timely completion.
