SRINAGAR: India recorded 30,773 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is 13.7 per cent lower than cases registered on Saturday, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry.

The weekly positivity rate for the Covid-19 in the country stood at 2.04 per cent, which is less than 3 per cent for the last 86 days, the health ministry said.

The daily positivity rate stood at 1.97 per cent, which is less than 3 per cent for the last 20 days

As of 8 am on Sunday, the total caseload reached 3,34,48,163, the health ministry said.

In the last 24 hours, 309 people died due to Covid-19 in the country, pushing the total death toll to 4,44,838.

The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 19,325 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,391 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,653 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,174 cases and Mizoram with 1,104 cases.

Around 86.6 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 62.8 per cent of the new cases.

The maximum fatalities due to Covid-19 were reported in Kerala (143), followed by Maharashtra with 80 daily deaths.

According to the health ministry, India’s recovery rate stood at 97.68 per cent.

A total of 38,945 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which pushed the total recoveries to 3,26,71,167 across the country.

As of 8 am, India’s active caseload stood at 3,32,158. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 8,481.

The health ministry said 80.43 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

India has administered a total of 85,42,732 doses in the last 24 hours, which pushed the total tally of doses administered to 80,43,72,331. A total of 15,59,895 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
