SRINAGAR: The High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur has advised Indian nationals not to travel to Malaysia for employment without the required work permit or visa, following a noticeable increase in Indians entering the country under the 30-day visa-free facility to seek jobs.
In an advisory issued on September 22, the mission warned that Indian nationals were being misled by unscrupulous agents offering false employment opportunities, potentially resulting in overstays, illegal immigration status, exploitation, detention and legal action.
It said the visa-free entry facility allowing Indian passport holders to remain in Malaysia for up to 30 days is available only for tourism and social visits. Seeking employment under the facility constitutes a violation of Malaysian immigration rules.
The High Commission advised genuine tourists to carry valid and verifiable documents, including a confirmed return ticket, hotel booking and a passport with at least six months’ validity.
Travellers are also required to submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online three days before their arrival, it said.
The mission reiterated that Indian nationals should not travel to Malaysia for work or employment without a valid work permit or a visa with reference (VDR).
