Indian and Pakistani troops exchange fire in Poonch

A day after a Junior Commissioned Officer was killed in Uri, Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district on Tuesday.

Defence sources said that Pakistani troops opened fire with automatic weapons and small arms on forward areas along LoC in Gambhir area in Bhimbher Gali sub-sectors.

They added that Indian troops guarding the line retaliated with equal calibre weapons, triggering exchanges which lasted for several hours.

“There was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the exchange of firing and shelling”, sources said.
