Following an encounter in Awneera village of Shopian district in south Kashmir, authorities have suspended all the mobile internet services in the district for precautionary measures.

An official said that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure, to avoid untoward incidents like protests. “Telecom operators have been asked to suspend the services,” he said.

Earlier, two militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Awneera village of Shopian during wee hours of Tuesday. The two slain militants have been identified as Shakir Ahmed of Awneera Shopian, and Sayaar Ahmed of Mochoo Kulgam.
