SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary School Education and Skill Development, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon on Tuesday chaired a meeting of Sub-Committee for the introduction of New Subjects in the Government Higher Secondary Schools in Jammu & Kashmir.

Dr Samoon discusses modalities at sub-committee meeting for introduction of new subjects at HSS level

The meeting was attended by the Additional Secretary School Education Department, Nodal Officers of School Education Department, while   Chairperson, JKBOSE, Director School Education Jammu, Director School Education Kashmir, Joint Director Planning School Education Jammu and other seniors officers attended the meeting through video conference.

Threadbare discussions were held on demands from different quarters regarding certain subjects and Subject Combination at Higher Secondary Part-I & Part-II levels, Faculty of Science, Home Science, Commerce and   Humanities.

The Joint Director Planning School Education Jammu gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation regarding subjects proposed to be introduced like Geology, Statistics, Geography, Electronics, Applied Mathematics, Philosophy, Public Administration, Psychology, Music and optional fifth subjects any from the list and others vocational course as per the demand of respective areas.

The meeting was informed that 10776 posts have been sanctioned for different subjects in the Government Higher Secondary Schools in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Principal Secretary directed the concerned authorities to propose the number of new subjects on the basis of demand and as per the guidelines issued under the new education policy of the government.

The Principal Secretary stressed on close coordination at all levels for raising the education standards.
