All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani, Saturday warned authorities that incidents like NIT Srinagar tend to have serious consequences on ground if the same persists in near future.

In a statement issued from New Delhi Geelani strongly condemned the thrashing of Kashmiri students and staff by the non-local Kashmiris after West Indies crushed Indian cricket team in a thriller World T20 semi-final last Thursday late night.

Geelani asked New Delhi in particular to “introspect why Kashmiri’s celebrate India’s defeat on streets”.

Strongly condemning the “hooliganism” of non-Kashmiri students Geelani said, “the outsiders with the full support of Indian forces and its intelligentsia are an extension of state policy to strengthen its occupation.”

“It should serve as an eye opener for the ruling puppets of New Delhi that Kashmiri’s are not even safe in their home land. Geelani sahib said it vindicated our apprehensions that under the garb of technical educational and health institutions like AIIMS and IITs or IIMS India have evil designs only to strength their occupation and upset the demographic setup of J&K,” he said.

“The way outsiders tried to force local students to chant slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ is intolerable for us so we are in touch with the admin and students and are assessing the situation closely. The students from other states who are studying here keep have to keep in mind that Kashmir is not Delhi or any other Indian state. Kashmir is not an integral part of India but an internationally recognized disputed territory,” he added.
