IJT Blood Bank

The pan Islamist students’ organization, Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) Jammu and Kashmir Monday started campaign for establishing its formal blood bank – “IJT Blood Bank”.

Speaking to Kashmir Life, IJT president, Omar Sultan, said, “as a responsible organization, people call us from different places when they needed blood, so we thought to establish a formal blood bank.”

He said that last month only IJT donated around a dozen pints of blood to patients across Kashmir.

“We are approaching different hospital; our focus would be LD, JVC hospitals, SKIMS and SMHS this time,” Omar said adding, “we are focusing on our Arakeen (basic members) to start with.” “They will be asked to donate blood and similarly all are invited to donate blood to save lives,” Omar said.

“Those who shall donate blood will be given refreshment and, if any, transport charges as well,” Omar said. “People will be coming from far off places and we don’t want students to suffer on account of fair charges.”
