Throwing spanner in Geelani’s efforts to emerge a model politician, Jama’at-e-Islami J&K on Monday stated the property that Syed Ali Geelani transferred to a trust belongs to Jama’at. The property, however, shall continue in his use till he is alive.
A statement issued by Jama’at-e-Islami on Monday said, “ the property under the use of Syed Ali Geelani at Hyderpora is basically the property of Jama’at-e-Islami,” adding “Jama’at Chief will head a delegation to Geelani to know the facts and details about the news of transferring the same property to some trust.”
The statement said that Jama’at-e-Islami, however, extended the decision that till Geelani is alive the property will remain under his use.
Pertinently, Geelani had announced a couple of days earlier to transfer his property including his Hyderpora residence and his party head office to an eight member trust.
