Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir on Monday said that they considers Kashmiri Pandits “as a part and parcel” of the Kashmiri society like other Kashmiri people who have every right to live here as they used to live before leaving Kashmir but at the same time entirely rejects the “sinister design” of creating separate colonies for them which is nothing but to “create a permanent wedge” between them and the local population.

In a statement issued to KNS, JeI questioned that what is wrong if they live here like other non-Muslim communities and those local Pandits who instead of leaving their native places preferred to stay on and are fully enjoying their life freely.

Jama’at also described the “derogatory remarks” of Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti, holding the reigns of this region in partnership with the most notorious Hindu communalist party BJP, against the local “oppressed and suppressed” Muslims as most “condemnable”.

“Equating them with a cat in contrast to equating the Kashmiri migrant Pandits with that of a pigeon despite fully knowing the fact that Kashmiri Muslims are the people who stand deprived of all the basic fundamental rights and who face worst kind of inhuman treatment at the hands of those who committed the breach of their promises and are inflicting all kinds of atrocities upon this hapless nation. Is it same Ms Mehbooba Mufti who used to weep bitterly on seeing the Kashmiri Muslims being subjected to humiliating atrocities? Is she not witnessing the humiliating condition of Muslims living in India despite being more than twenty percent in number? Can she make her role before holding the chair and the change after securing the reigns clear? Was it deceptive then or is it deceptive now? Was she right then or is she right today? May the people of Kashmir know. Perhaps she has lost her sight of the history that one who plays tricks with one’s own nation never succeeds!” the statement said.

JeI while condemning the “humiliating and baseless” remarks of Ms Mehbooba Mufti against the Kashmiri Muslims, rejected all the “vicious plans of creating wedges” among different communities living over here and those aimed at changing the demography of Jammu and Kashmir and impresses upon those holding the reigns here to desist from all such anti-Muslim and anti-Kashmiri policies.
