Srinagar
Government for the fourth consecutive Friday today disallowed congregational Friday prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
All roads leading to the Jamia have been sealed and concertina wires have been erected at the entry and exit points, witnesses said.
Kashmir’s head priest, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who leads the congregational prayers at the Jamia has been detained at his Nigeen residence.
Pertinently, after the killing of Dy SP Muhammad Ayub Pandit, the state government has disallowed congregational Friday prayers at the grand mosque.
