A youth has been killed after Army opened fire on Friday  in Beerwah area of Budgam district.

Reports reaching here said that ahead of the Friday prayers, a few youth pelted stones on the patrolling party of Army who fired indiscriminately at the youth.

One of the bullets hit the slain on his head, reports said. Identified as Tanveer Ahmad, a resident of Arwah village in Beerwah, he was in his early twenties and a tailor by profession.

Another youth Mehrajuddin of Goripora village was injured in the firing incident. He has been shifted to District Hospital Budgam where his condition is stated to be stable.

Meanwhile, a senior police official of the district has reportedly said that an FIR has been registered against Army’s 53 RR over the killing of Tanveer Ahmad Wani.
