Two more army personnel succumbed to injuries who were injured in the twin militant attacks in Hiranagar and Samba yesterday. “The death toll has gone up to 13,” an army statement said on Friday.

It added that Head Constable Inder Singh and Sepoy Meesala Srinivas were critically injured in the militant attack and the duo succumbed to their injuries in a hospital a day after the attack.

The statement said that the death toll has gone up to 13 now which included 4 policemen, 4 Army personnel, 2 civilians and the three militants.

Six persons including 2 Army personnel, 2 Policemen and two civilians are undergoing treatment.

Army said that a large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the deceased militants.

It included 3 AK rifles with 20 magazines and 319 round, 1 pistol with 2 magazines and 24 rounds, 1 hand grenade, 2 Knives, 2 bags, 1 lighter, 3 pouches, 1 water pouch, 1 compass and 2 kgs of dry fruits.

Pertinently, the deadly attacks occurred on Thursday three days before the proposed meeting between the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with his Pakistani counterpart in US.
