SRINAGAR: Water in the irrigation canals of Jammu Division will be released on April 2, according to a statement issued today by the Irrigation Department.
“It is notified for the general public, particularly farmers, that the water in the Main Ranbir Canal, New Partap Canal, Kathua Canal, and other canals of Jammu Province will be released from April 2, 2025. All concerned Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers are directed to plan their activities to ensure the completion of ongoing works before the canals are recharged,” reads the statement.
The Executive Engineers of Irrigation Division No. I Jammu, Irrigation Division No. II Jammu, Irrigation Division Akhnoor, and Irrigation Division Kathua are further instructed to form teams that will accompany the water flow in the canal and distribution network as it reaches their jurisdiction. “This measure aims to ensure the safe passage of water to the tail end and prevent any untoward incidents,” the notice reads.
