Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Jammu and Kashmir Sanjeev Verma, IAS, announced the initiative during a review meeting with District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), according to an official press release.

The drive aims to ensure that eligible citizens are included in the electoral rolls and can update or correct their existing voter details. The department said the two-day exercise would also mark the start of a regular weekend voter facilitation initiative across Jammu and Kashmir.

During the drive, citizens will be able to submit Forms 6, 7 and 8 for voter enrolment, deletion and correction or updating of electoral particulars. Assistance will be available for both physical submission of forms and digital applications through the Voter Helpline App.

Verma directed election officials to conduct extensive public outreach and ensure that citizens are informed about the facilities available at their nearest polling stations. Officials have also been asked to share regular updates through official social media platforms, including polling station, Assembly constituency and district details.

Booth Level Officers have been instructed to conduct door-to-door outreach to identify eligible people who may not yet be enrolled. Particular attention will be given to young people, first-time voters, women, persons with disabilities and others who may require assistance.

The Chief Electoral Officer urged eligible citizens to visit their nearest polling stations during the drive and make use of the enrolment and correction services. He stressed the importance of maintaining complete, accurate and inclusive electoral rolls.

The Election Department said weekend enrolment and facilitation drives would be organised regularly to make voter registration and the updating of electoral details more accessible at the grassroots level.
