SRINAGAR: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), Jammu and Kashmir, has advised consumers not to purchase or consume a batch of “Dust Tea (Premium Instant Mix Tea)” sold under the brand New Fast Tea after it was declared unsafe by the National Food Laboratory (NFL), Ghaziabad.
According to the FDA, the affected product is Batch No. 10, packed by M/s INAAM Tea Agency, Thane, Maharashtra.
The sample was collected by the Food Safety Officer, Tral, on June 27, 2026, during routine enforcement inspections and sent to the National Food Laboratory in Ghaziabad for analysis.
The laboratory found the sample to contain the prohibited synthetic food colours Tartrazine and Sunset Yellow, rendering it unsafe under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and the regulations framed thereunder.
Following the laboratory findings, the Designated Officer (Assistant Commissioner), Pulwama, issued a prohibition order under Section 36(3)(b) read with Section 18(1)(f) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, banning the sale and distribution of the affected batch within Pulwama district. The FDA said further regulatory proceedings under the Act have also been initiated.
The administration has advised consumers in possession of the affected batch not to consume it and urged them to report any sale or distribution of the product to the concerned Designated Officer or the Food and Drugs Administration.
The FDA has also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report the availability of the prohibited tea batch, or any suspected unsafe, adulterated or misbranded food products, through its toll-free helpline 104 or by email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).
