The figures were provided by Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Kamlesh Paswan in reply to Unstarred Question No. 2589, answered on August 4, 2026. The data showed that 1,37,003 houses had been sanctioned in J&K under PMAY-G during the period, while MGNREGS generated 1,263.44 lakh persondays and facilitated the creation of 3,76,426 assets.

Under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), J&K formed 46,811 Self Help Groups (SHGs), mobilising 4,32,973 households, with Rs 305.42 crore released as Central share from 2023-24 till May 31, 2026.

Ladakh, meanwhile, recorded 1,125 houses sanctioned under PMAY-G, with Rs 18.90 crore released. Under DAY-NRLM, 1,680 SHGs were formed, bringing 11,274 households into SHGs, while Rs 27.50 crore was released. Under MGNREGS, the Union Territory generated 66.76 lakh persondays, created 31,118 assets and received Rs 235.10 crore in Central assistance.

The data placed J&K’s PMAY-G house sanctions below several larger States but above Ladakh, while its DAY-NRLM mobilisation and SHG formation were substantially higher than Ladakh’s. J&K’s MGNREGS persondays and Central assistance were also considerably higher than Ladakh’s, reflecting the difference in the scale of rural employment programme implementation between the two Union Territories.

At the national level, the Ministry reported that the three rural development programmes are regularly assessed and reviewed to ensure that their objectives are achieved. The Government said reviews are conducted through Performance Review Committee Meetings, National Level Monitors, Area Officers Schemes, Common Review Missions, Mid-Term Reviews, Labour Budget meetings, Programme Review meetings, Concurrent Evaluation and Impact Assessment Studies.

It added that end-to-end digital systems have been operationalised under the programmes to improve implementation, targeting, delivery and transparency, while allowing stakeholders to monitor and assess progress in real time.

The Government further said Central assistance is released to States and Union Territories after defined physical milestones are achieved and previously released funds are utilised. It said there was no specific proposal under consideration for additional Central assistance or special projects for Bihar, including Katihar, beyond assistance and projects being provided under existing rural development schemes and their guidelines.
