SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has accepted the technical resignation of Tariq Ahmad Tantry, former Lecturer in Chemistry at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Ashpora, Kupwara, following his appointment as an Assistant Professor in Chemistry in the Higher Education Department.
The School Education Department issued Government Order No. 334-JK(Edu) of 2026 dated August 20, accepting Tantry’s resignation with effect from December 17, 2024. His lien in the Jammu and Kashmir School Education (Gazetted) Service will also stand terminated.
Tantry had been appointed as a Lecturer in Chemistry in the School Education Department under Government Order No. 280-Edu of 2017 dated June 7, 2017.
According to the order, he subsequently applied through proper channel for the post of Assistant Professor (Chemistry) pursuant to JK Public Service Commission Notification No. 17-PSC(DR-P) of 2023 dated May 15, 2023.
He was appointed as Assistant Professor, Chemistry, in the Higher Education Department through Government Order No. 563-JK(HE) of 2024 dated December 16, 2024, after which he tendered his technical resignation before the Principal of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Ashpora.
The Director, School Education, Kashmir, forwarded his technical resignation case to the School Education Department through a letter dated July 1, 2025. The department examined the case and found no outstanding dues or adverse matter against the former lecturer in the available records.
The JK Public Service Commission, in a communication dated April 17, 2026, also confirmed that Tantry was in service when he applied for the Assistant Professor post.
The case was subsequently placed before the competent authority, which approved acceptance of his technical resignation.
The government order states that the resignation has been accepted on Tantry’s own request with effect from December 17, 2024.
