SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved a Rs 6.59 crore project for the conservation and upgradation of the historic Imambara Zadibal in Srinagar, with the initiative aimed at preserving the site’s heritage while improving facilities for devotees and visitors.
The approval was announced through the official X handle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the project seeks to conserve the historic character of the centuries-old Imambara while upgrading essential infrastructure and amenities.
Officials said the conservation component will focus on safeguarding the monument’s architectural heritage, while the upgradation works will improve facilities for the large number of devotees and visitors, particularly during major religious gatherings.
Imambara Zadibal is one of the Valley’s prominent religious and cultural landmarks, attracting thousands of worshippers during important religious occasions. The government said the project is intended to preserve its historical significance while enhancing the experience for visitors.
