SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has approved six free domestic LPG refills a year for every eligible Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) household in the Union Territory under the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister’s Free LPG Scheme.
The approval was issued through Government Order No. 83-JK(FCS&CA) of 2026, dated September 24, following Council of Ministers Decision No. 123/11/2026 of September 10.
Under the scheme, each eligible AAY family will receive six free LPG refills annually, in addition to any other benefits it is entitled to under schemes of the Government of India.
The benefit will be available exclusively to AAY households identified and verified through the AePDS database maintained by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, J&K.
The government order said safeguards would be put in place to prevent duplication of benefits and claims by households that are not eligible under the scheme.
The scheme will remain in force for four years. The department said detailed implementation modalities would be issued separately after vetting and approval by the competent authority.
