SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has constituted a high-level committee to facilitate the implementation of the Prime Minister’s RAHAT Scheme in the Union Territory, according to Government Order No. 462-JK(GAD) of 2026 issued by the General Administration Department (GAD).
The committee will be chaired by the Administrative Secretary of the Home Department and includes key officials from various departments as members. These include the Administrative Secretaries of Health and Medical Education and Transport, Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir, and Inspectors General of Police for Kashmir, Jammu, and Traffic.
The panel has been tasked with coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the PM RAHAT Scheme across Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring effective execution of its provisions in the Union Territory.
The move is aimed at streamlining administrative processes, enhancing inter-departmental coordination, and facilitating smooth delivery of the scheme’s benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
The Government has emphasised the committee’s role in ensuring timely implementation, resolving bottlenecks, and providing guidance to subordinate authorities and field-level officials under the scheme.
The PM RAHAT (Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment) Scheme, launched by the Government of India in February 2026, is a nationwide initiative aimed at providing immediate, cashless emergency treatment to all road accident victims, regardless of their nationality or financial status. Implementing a “citizen-first” approach, the scheme provides up to Rs 1.5 lakh of financial coverage per victim for the first seven days of treatment, specifically focusing on the critical “golden hour” to reduce fatalities.
