SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned the creation of four exclusive Special Courts to try offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, along with 40 posts for their functioning.
The courts will be established in the districts of Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Rajouri, with 10 posts sanctioned for each court, according to a government order issued by the Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
Government Order No. 11686-JK(LD) of 2026 was issued on September 21 following Council of Ministers Decision No. 135/11/2026 dated September 10.
Each court will have a Presiding Officer of District and Sessions Judge rank, a personal assistant-cum-senior scale stenographer, a Section Officer (Reader), a Head Assistant, a Criminal Clerk (Senior Assistant), a Copyist (Junior Assistant), a Miscellaneous Clerk (Junior Assistant), a Driver Grade-II and two Orderlies.
The order, issued with the concurrence of the Finance Department, provides for four posts in each category except Orderly, for which eight posts have been sanctioned.
The High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh will amend the relevant recruitment rules accordingly.
