SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Monday ordered a major reshuffle in the Higher Education Department, transferring and posting several Principals, In-charge Principals and Associate Professors across colleges in the Union Territory with immediate effect.
The orders were issued through Government Order No. 141-JK(HE) of 2026 dated May 18 by the Higher Education Department.
According to the order, Mohd Zubair, presently on deputation to Cluster University of Jammu as Dean, has been transferred and posted as Principal of Government Degree College (GDC) Ghagwal. Basharat Iqbal has been shifted from GDC Kishtwar to GDC Bhaderwah, while Farooq Ahmed has been transferred from GDC Nowshera to GDC Sidhra.
Sanjay Kumar, Principal of GDC Udhampur, has been posted as Principal of MAM College Jammu, while Bhavnaish Chand has been transferred from GDC Ramnagar to GDC Udhampur vice Sanjay Kumar. Tasleema Bano has been shifted from GDC Magam to GDC Baramulla, and Gazala Gayas from GDC Pampore to GDC Kokernag.
The government also ordered that Naveen Anand, Principal of GCW Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, shall take over as Principal of GCW Parade Jammu from June 1 following the retirement of Ravender Kumar Tickoo. Shalini Sharma has been transferred from GDC Majalta to GCW Bhagwati Nagar and will assume charge on the same date.
Jyoti Parihar, Principal of Government College of Education Jammu, has been assigned the additional charge of Dean Education, Cluster University of Jammu till further orders.
The order further stated that the Principal of GDC Hyderpora Srinagar will hold the additional charge of GDC Budgam from June 1 after the retirement of Principal Mohd Amin Malik.
Several Associate Professors presently holding look-after charges as Principals were also transferred. Mohd Farooq has been posted to GDC Budhal, Sanjeet Kour Sodhi to GDC Vijaypur, Tariq Ahmad Shikari to GDC Sogam, Tariq Ahmad Wani to GDC Hadipora, Bilal Ahmad Sheikh to GDC Beerwah, Ghulam Abas to GDC Pampore and Rumania Ashraf to GDC Langate.
Besides, the Higher Education Department assigned the charge of Principals to senior-most Associate Professors on a temporary look-after basis in several colleges across Jammu and Kashmir.
Among those assigned new responsibilities are Syed Muzaffar Ahmad for GDC Sopore, Umer Din Rather for GDC Chatroo, Mr Abdul Rashid Wani for GDC Khansahib, Mohd Sadeeq for GDC Nowshera, Shokit Hussain for GDC Mendhar and Ab Gani Kumar for GDC Kralpora.
Similarly, Rajinder Kumar Sharma has been assigned GDC Ramnagar, Mansa Ram GDC Marwah, Alpana Vohra GDC Majalta, Satish Kumar GDC Ukhral and Manzoor Ahmad Dar GDC Charar-i-Sharief.
The order also assigned look-after charges to Physics faculty members, including Syed Gulzar Ahmad at GCW Baramulla, Neen Kumar Manhas at GDC Rajpora, Kamal Kishore at GDC Kupwara, Syeed Shouket Rasool at GDC Magam and Lekh Raj at GDC Kishtwar.
Further, Sadat Hassan Kar has been assigned GDC Tulail, Mubashir Koul GDC Soibugh, Assad Ullah Khan GDC Tangdar, Daljeet Singh GDC Tangmarg, Farooq Ahmad Mir GDC Gurez and Raj Kumar Gupta GDC Chenani on a look-after basis.
The government clarified that all arrangements made on a look-after basis are temporary and will remain in force until regular Principals are appointed through the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. It added that the arrangements would not confer any preferential claim for promotion and would remain subject to the outcome of any pending court proceedings or adverse reports from investigating agencies.
