Jammu Kashmir Law Department Orders Transfer of 20 Law Officers

   

SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir’s Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has ordered the immediate transfer, posting, and assignment of additional charges for 20 law officers.

According to Government Order No. 7322-JK(LD) of 2026, issued on June 16, 2026, and signed by Achal Sethi, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, the changes have been made in the interest of administration, with all affected personnel deemed relieved from the date of the order.

Among the high-level changes, Syed Sarfaraz Zahoor Rizvi, Special Secretary to Government, has been transferred from the Agriculture Production Department to the Tourism Department. Furthermore, several Deputy Legal Remembrancers have received new postings. Syed Ahsan-ul-Haq moves from the office of the Commissioner Food and Drugs to the Higher Education Department, relieving Mudassar Hassan Choudhary of his additional charge, whilst retaining his additional responsibilities for the Culture Department’s litigation work. Showkat Ahmad Bejard is transitioning to a full-time role at the Directorate of Floriculture, Kashmir, vacating his post at the Irrigation and Flood Control department. Sourab Pangotra leaves the Tourism Department for the Agriculture Production Department, and Mymoona Wani transfers from the JK Sports Council to the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports in Srinagar.

The restructuring heavily impacts Assistant Legal Remembrancers across the region. Baij Nath, based at the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution in Jammu, will now hold the additional charge of litigation work for the JK Medical Supplies Corporation. Hilal Ahmad Bhat, currently at the Directorate of Samagra Siksha, takes on additional litigation responsibilities for the JK Sports Council. Sohil Mir moves from the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in Jammu to the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Jammu. Masroor Hassan, whilst continuing her duties at the Science and Technology Department, will now oversee litigation for JAKEDA. In a district-level change, Ishfaq Ahmad Khan leaves the PW (R and B) Chief Engineer’s office in Kashmir to become the District Litigation Officer for Kupwara.

Additional adjustments see Chander Kiran move to a full-time role at the Directorate of Skill Development in Jammu. Sufaya Bashir transfers from Kashmir’s Directorate of Horticulture to the office of the Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir. In turn, Aadil Hussain Khan transfers from the JK PDCL to the PW (R and B) Chief Engineer’s office in Kashmir. Shailoo Razdan has been reassigned from the District Litigation Office in Anantnag to become the District Litigation Officer for Kulgam. Farooq Ahmad Bhat takes up a full-time posting at the Government Medical College, Handwara, whilst also assuming additional charge of litigation at Government Medical College, Baramulla, thereby relieving Aijaz Ahmad Monga. Meanwhile, Lutfar Rehman moves to the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution in Jammu, and Sumit Koul adds the litigation work of the Directorate of Horticulture, Kashmir, to his existing duties at the Directorate of Litigation.

The administrative reshuffle concludes with changes for Associate and Assistant Law Officers. Mudasir Ahmad Khan Pathan has been transferred to the office of the Chief Conservator of Forest Kashmir, South Circle Bijbehara, Anantnag, relieving Rayees Ahmad Bhat of his additional charge. Audil Rasool Wani moves from the Directorate of Sericulture, Kashmir, to the JK PDCL. Finally, Daleep Kumar, an Assistant Law Officer who was already under orders of transfer, has had his posting changed to the office of the Chief Engineer, Ravi Tawi Irrigation Complex (RTIC) in Jammu.
