SRINAGAR: IAS officer Choudhary Mohammad Yasin, a 2015-batch AGMUT cadre officer who has served in several key administrative positions in Jammu and Kashmir, has been relieved from the Puducherry Administration to enable him to join in Mizoram.
The Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry issued the relieving order in pursuance of an order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, relieving Yasin, who was serving as Secretary to the Government of Puducherry with the Health portfolio, from the Union Territory administration.
Yasin is a 2015-batch IAS officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre. Before his posting in Puducherry, he held several senior assignments in Jammu and Kashmir, including Deputy Commissioner of Shopian and Poonch and Managing Director of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL).
During his tenure as Deputy Commissioner of Shopian from 2019 to 2021, Yasin served during the COVID-19 pandemic. He subsequently served as Mission Director of the National Health Mission, JK, from 2021 to 2022.
He was appointed Managing Director of JPDCL in 2022 and served in the position until 2023. He later served as Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, from 2023 to 2025.
Yasin assumed charge as Secretary to the Government of Puducherry on July 14, 2025, and has handled portfolios including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Ports and Information Technology. He has also served as Chief Executive Officer of Puducherry Smart City Development Limited and Secretary-cum-Commissioner for State Tax.
An engineering graduate, Yasin holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering and an MA in Public Management.
His latest relieving order will facilitate his joining in Mizoram in accordance with the Ministry of Home Affairs order.
