Addressing a gathering on Police Commemoration Day 2026, Prabhat said the force was committed to eliminating terrorism and dismantling its support networks across Jammu and Kashmir.

“Our objective is clear: to identify and completely uproot terrorism and every element associated with terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Warning those supporting terrorist activities, the DGP said the police would track them down regardless of where they attempted to hide and ensure they faced legal action.

He also called on people to uphold communal harmony, mutual trust and unity, urging them to remain alert to attempts to disturb peace and stability in the region. He sought public cooperation with the J&K Police, Army and other security forces in maintaining peace.

Emphasising public safety, Prabhat called for stronger measures to prevent crimes against women and children, protect vulnerable sections of society and ensure timely justice for victims.

He also stressed the need to intensify action against drug trafficking and the illegal narcotics trade, saying efforts to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free were essential to protecting young people, families and society.

Paying tribute to police personnel who died in the line of duty, the DGP said the most meaningful tribute to the fallen personnel would be to work towards a safe, peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.

He also underlined the importance of ensuring the welfare and continued support of the families of police martyrs.
