SRINAGAR: As the Jammu division reported 1518 new cases on May 5, with 28 people dead due to the second wave of Covid-19, the region is witnessing mass pouring for improved infrastructure. The Lt Governor has announced adding1300 plus oxygen-supported beds in the next five days.
Jammu has so far lost 1068 residents to Covid-19 as 14686 active Covid-19 cases. There is no space in the hospitals.
Several pictures and videos that went viral on social media from one of the most prominent hospitals of Jammu – the CD Hospital that went viral on social media show how more than a dozen of patients were being treated on the ground in the hospital for lack of beds. These patients are receiving care on the hospital’s stairwells as well as the first floor.
Bishan Das a man in his seventies looks down at his young son who lays flat on the ground with an oxygen mask on his mouth.
“We have been waiting here in the lawns of the hospital for the past two hours but the hospital administration isn’t admitting him, they say we have no bed and have asked us to go home,” says Bishan Das while speaking to a local reporter in a viral video.
Another clip from one of the viral videos shows an elderly lady lying and another female patient sitting in the lawns of the hospital with oxygen masks attached to oxygen cylinders kept nearby.

The hospital administration, however, has informed the patients that they are unable to accept patients due to a lack of beds but they can continue to receive full assistance from the hospital staff.
