SRINAGAR: Vehicular traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway has been completely halted following a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall at T2 near Ramban, officials said on Friday.
Authorities said that continuous rain overnight led to the landslide, rendering the highway impassable. As a precaution, traffic has been suspended from both the Jammu and Srinagar sides to ensure commuter safety.
“Due to inclement weather and a landslide at T2 Ramban, the highway remains blocked, and no vehicle movement is being allowed from either direction,” a traffic department official confirmed.
Travellers have been advised to defer their journey until the weather improves and road clearance operations are completed.
“People are requested not to travel on NH-44 until further notice. Please stay updated by checking the latest traffic advisories issued by J&K Traffic Police on their official Twitter handle, Facebook page, or through Traffic Control Units (TCUs),” the official added. (KNT)
