While exhibiting its responsible corporate citizen character, J&K Bank handed over 389 water proof tents to the district administration of Doda and Kishtwar in Jammu region. The tents are to be donated among the earthquake affected families in the Chenab valley.
A team of J&K Bank officials headed by its President Abdul Rauf Bhat handed over 250 tents to Doda district development commissioner, Mubarak Singh and 139 tents were handed over to Kishtwar district development commissioner, Saleem Mohammad.
Bank’s Zonal Head, Jammu (West), Mohammad Ibrahim, Cluster Head, Kishtwar, Mohammad Amin, other senior officers of the bank and the district administration were present on the occasion.
District Development Commissioner, Doda, Mubarak Singh, commended responsible corporate citizen role of the bank. He said, “J&K Bank is not only playing a yeomen’s role in the economic development of the state, but has been a social crusader as well. Be it education, health, environment or any other socially relevant cause, the bank puts its best foot forward. In the hour of need like the catastrophe we met here in Chenab valley, our first and dependable choice for seeking support has been the bank.”
Mubarak Singh thanked the Chairman and CEO, Mushtaq Ahmad for this generous support.
While commenting on this gesture of J&K Bank, the district development commissioner, Kishtwar, Saleem Mohammad said, “J&K Bank is indeed a friend in need. My sincere thanks go to the Chairman of J&K Bank, Mushtaq Ahmad, who was proactive in coming to our rescue for supporting the affected families in shortest possible time.”
Notably, J&K Bank acted promptly following the damage caused by the earthquake in Chenab valley on May 1, 2013 to support the affected families. The bank has placed orders for procuring 1000 water proof tents costing over Rs One crore. Remaining quota of tents is being supplied to the affected districts very shortly.
It’s pertinent to mention that the Chenab valley is still in grip of aftershocks of the May 1, earthquake.
