Continuing its efforts in trying circumstances to bring back complete normalcy in banking operations in the flood affected areas, J&K Bank Wednesday restored functioning of its Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, business unit (BU) in a mobile van (mobile branch). The infrastructure of the BU was extensively damaged in devastating floods and the building housing the branch is currently improper for running the operations.

The mobile branch is parked near GMC, Srinagar wherein all the important transactions are being conducted with ease and efficiency. Besides, for the convenience of its customers, the bank parked its mobile ATM vans at critical points in Srinagar. This is in addition to 300 ATMs in the valley which have been made functional so far after disruption due to floods. At the moment J&K Bank has made 376 out of 379 Business Units (branches) functional in the Kashmir valley.

It is worth mentioning that the bank’s corporate headquarters and zonal office at Maulana Azad Road are functional. Notably, the areas were severely hit in floods and almost all other offices of other departments located in the areas are yet to be made functional.

RSETI training programme Meanwhile, Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) Poonch concluded a 15-days training programme in “Hand Embroidery”. Director RSETI Mr. Ayoub Ahmad Khuroo presided over the valedictory function of the programme that was attended by 27 unemployed youth from various villages of the district. Speaking on the occasion, he assured all the participants of providing complete support for establishment of their income generating units.

The bank’s Cluster Head Poonch Ghulam Jeelani Dar also interacted with the participants and explained to them the virtues of self employment in present scenario and assured them of all credit related assistance from the Bank.

Cluster Head also distributed ‘Certificate of Participation’ among the enthusiastic trainees who expressed their satisfaction over conduct of training programme. Head B.U S K Bridge (Poonch) Rajesh Puri, Senior Manager Anmol singh from cluster office, Poonch and were also present at the function.
