State government fully owned Jammu and Kashmir Cements Limited reported a turnover of Rs 93.29 crore last fiscal as its sales crossed Rs 23.76 crore in the first quarter of 2014-15.

MD JKCL Rakesh Sharma told PSUs 98th Board of Directors meeting that they sold 30,000 MTs of cement in the first three months of the current fiscal. Last fiscal ending March 2014, 131314 MTs of cement was sold. Industries minister Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo headed the meeting as FC Industries Khursheed A Ganai was also present.

The board discussed status of various ongoing projects, including Clinker Grinding cum Packing Unit coming up at a cost of Rs 26.96 crore at Industrial Growth Centre, Samba, Jammu. The unit has a capacity of producing 300 ton cement per day. The board gave a time line of August 20 for its completion.

The Board also approved upgradation of Kiln and Coal Mill of old cement plant at Khrew.

Ganai asked the corporation to to conduct Environment Impact Assessment through State Pollution Control Board of entire Khrew area where various cement plants are operating.
