The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is holding a meeting with the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday to discuss with him the current political situation in J&K.

Reports said that besides, Mehbooba, Director General of Police Kashmir Dr SP Vaid, and Chief Secretary BB Vyas are also present in the meeting.

On Monday Rajnath announced the appointment of an interlocutor, Dineshwar Sharma to hold talks with “all stake holders of J&K”.

Mufti welcomed the appointment of former Intelligence Bureau Chief Dineshwar Sharma as the Government’s representative for the sustained dialogue process in J&K.

According to the sources, holding of panchayat election in J&K is also on the agenda in Thursday’s meeting.

The last local elections were held in 2011 in the state and the next elections were scheduled in 2016 but due to summer uprising in the valley after the killing of Burhan Wani, the election was put on hold.
