Asserting that J&K is on the threshold of a far reaching socio-economic transformation, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather Wednesday said developmental tempo has been further accelerated in the nock and corner of the State. He said an amount of about Rs 1.20 crore has been released out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to give impetus to the development works in various areas of Chrar-i-Sharief Constituency with special emphasis on improving power supply, up-gradation of roads, lane and community centres.

Addressing a public gathering comprising senior citizens and gross root functionaries at his official residence Tuslibagh Srinagar, Rather said that in order to bring green revolution in the upper belt of Charar-i-Sharief constituency, the Arzan Garzan Irrigation Dam will be revived at a cost of Rs. 30 crore. He said two new Receiving Station at Nowpora and Pakherpora will also be set up to further improve power supply in the constituency adding that work on reconstruction of Maharaja road from Chowdhary Gund to Buzgoo-Nilnag has been expedited at a cost of Rs. 6.50 crore. The road on completion will give boost to tourism activities in the area.

Cautioning about the “machinations” of the political opponents, Rather asked the people not to get swayed by their baseless propaganda about the present government adding that the state has witnessed a golden era of development during the five and half year of the present government. He asked the people to be united and defeat nefarious designs of the opposition parties who want to grab the power by unleashing falsehood and deceit.

“They will come in different guises before you to exploits your sentiments but we should not get mislead by their false propaganda”, Rather cautioned. He said opposition is so desperate that they are trying to polarize the society on regional and religion basis not withstanding that fact that it was against the rich secular traditions of the state. He said J&K is a single entity and any conspiracy to disintegrate it would be fraught with full might.

He also sought people’s cooperation in maintaining peace and tranquillity, adding that it was imperative for speedy development and prosperity of the state.
