SRINAGAR: In a significant operation, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a series of coordinated raids across multiple districts in the Kashmir Valley. The raids were aimed at dismantling the recruitment network of the newly formed militant group, Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim (TLM), believed to be an offshoot of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) organization, reports appearing in media said.
The large-scale operation targeted key areas including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kulgam, Budgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama. The swift actions of the CIK resulted in the disbandment of a recruitment module allegedly orchestrated by a Pakistani handler, operating under the alias ‘@ Baba Hamas’.
Authorities have expressed concern over TLM’s growing influence in the region, with the group reportedly seeking to expand its base in Jammu and Kashmir by recruiting local youth. The CIK’s intervention marks a crucial step in halting the organisation’s attempts to entrench itself in the Valley.
Further investigations are underway to uncover the group’s broader connections, its funding sources, and the extent of its objectives. Official sources indicate that the dismantled recruitment module was one of several initiatives aimed at curbing terrorism in the region. More details on the operation are expected in the coming days.
This breakthrough is part of a broader counter-terrorism strategy by security forces to neutralise emerging threats and prevent the infiltration of extremist ideologies among the youth.
