SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police on Saturday conducted search operations at multiple locations in connection with cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), continuing its action against terror associates and related infrastructure.
A police spokesperson said in a statement said that searches were carried out at the residences of individuals linked to proscribed militant outfits and ongoing investigations across various police stations in the district.
“The residence of Imtiyaz Ahmad Parray, son of Gh Rasool Parray, of Kalamdanpora, Zainakdal, was searched in connection with FIR No. 29/2005 under sections 7/25 of the Arms Act registered at Police Station M.R. Gunj. Similarly, police searched the house of Arsh Koul, son of Ashiq Ahmad Koul, from Dalal Mohalla Zainakdal, linked to FIR No. 35/2022 under sections 13, 18, 20, 23, 49 of the UAPA and section 7/25 of the Arms Act,” the statement reads.
It adds, “The residence of Mutaib Zahoor Bhat, son of Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, of Bilal Colony, Soura, was searched in relation to FIR No. 41/2021 under section 13 of the UAPA and sections 188 and 269 of the IPC, registered at Police Station Soura.A raid was also conducted at the home of Basit Ashraf Malik of Nowpora, Safakadal, involved in FIR No. 156/2024 under sections 13, 19, 39 of the UAPA at Police Station Safakadal.”
In addition, police searched the residence of Mohd Rafiq Shah, son of Noor Mohammad Shah, from Hazari Bazar, Rainawari, linked to FIR No. 48/2024 under section 109 of the BNS and sections 13, 16, 19, 20, 39 of the UAPA at Police Station Khanyar.
Officials said that the searches were carried out under legal procedures in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses. The operations were supervised by senior J&K Police officers. “The aim of the searches was to recover arms, documents, digital devices, and other materials relevant to evidence collection and intelligence gathering to prevent any planned or unlawful activities affecting national security.”
Police said this action is part of a wider effort to dismantle the terror network in Jammu and Kashmir by lawfully targeting those involved in anti-national activities. (JKNS)
