A condolence meeting of the employees of the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) was held here on Tuesday to offer sympathies with the bereaved family members of slain veteran journalist and founder daily Rising Kashmir, and Kashmir Media House, Syed Shujaat Bukhari.
Speaking during the condolence meet, Director JKEDI, Dr. Muhammad Ismail Parray said the state of Jammu and Kashmir has lost not just a journalist but a bold voice, a prolific writer, a social activist and a visionary committed towards a better society.
He said the void created by Bukhari’s death has not just dented the field of journalism but also led to the assassination of the intellectual acumen of the State.
On the occasion, the staff of JKEDI expressed shock over the killing of this great son of the soil and conveyed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family. They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and highest place for him in the heaven.
“It is an irreparable loss for the whole State. Through the different publications of Kashmir Media House, Shujaat helped the Institute highlight its activities in all regions of the state from time to time. He considered journalism not just a profession but a mission for the betterment of the society. May Almighty give patience to his family members to bear the pain and grief at this crucial juncture,” Dr. Parray said.
He added that the services which Bukhari rendered especially for the unvoiced sections of the society through his incredible writings can never be forgotten.
