Hafiz Saeed led Jama’at-ud-Dawah (JuD) said that it will launch a campaign in “solidarity” with the people of Kashmir on July 8, on the first “martyrdom” anniversary of Hizb ul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani.

“The drive will continue till July 19 during which big gatherings, conferences and rallies will be held across (Pakistan),” said JuD acting chief Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki.

Makki, brother-in-law of Saeed, has been looking after the affairs of JuD in absence of Saeed who is under house arrest in Lahore since January 30.

Saeed and his four aides have been detained on the orders of Pakistani government for their alleged involvement in activities prejudicial to peace and the country’s security.

Kashmir erupted demanding “Aazadi” when Burhan was killed on July 08 in 2016 in Bemdoora Kokernag in Islamabad district. Complete shutdown along with pro-freedom protests were reported every day during months long uprising. Over hundred civilians were killed by the Indian armed forces.

JuD and Jama’at-e-Islami Pakistan held a number of rallies in Pakistan and even formed a human chain along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) last year.
