SRINAGAR: People across Kashmir are up in arms against the authorities for failing to adhere to the power schedule even in the holy month of Ramzan.

Complaints poured in from almost every area including Srinagar, Kupwara, Shopian and other districts where people have expressed resentment against the authorities for erratic power supply.

People said that the concerned department had miserably failed to ensure adequate electricity even in the holy month of Ramzan. “We fail to understand that even after being promised by the Lieutenant Governor’s administration of substantial power supply in the holy month of Ramzan why are authorities resorting to usual power cuts,” said Hilal Shah of Lolab.

He said that the department had even failed to ensure electricity during Sehri and Iftaar time.

“Even in Ramzan, we are being forced to have our meals under candlelight on Sehri time. Even a walk towards Masjids gets difficult during dark hours,” said Saifullah Dar a resident of Mohanpora village Shopian.

“It is shocking that instead of ensuring regular power supply during this holy month, PDD is resorting to forced power cuts,” said Baba Murtaza a resident of Srinagar.

“PDD doesn’t adhere to the schedule due to which the students, preparing for examinations, are facing hardships,” said Tajamul Ahmad of Ganderbal.

The people appealed to Lieutenant Governor’s administration for an uninterrupted power supply during the holy month of Ramzan.
