SRINAGAR: Former cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has said Jammu and Kashmir has the potential to produce India’s next fast bowler, while stressing the need for greater opportunities for local cricketers to develop their careers.
Speaking in Srinagar, Chopra expressed hope that the next fast-bowling talent to represent India could emerge from Kashmir.
“I hope that the next fast bowler that we get will also come from here. He is here somewhere,” Chopra said.
Referring to Jammu and Kashmir’s Ranji Trophy triumph, Chopra said the achievement should be followed by efforts to create more opportunities for players from the region.
He also highlighted career avenues in cricket beyond playing, including coaching, support staff, logistics and broadcasting.
Chopra urged aspiring broadcasters to develop a strong understanding of the game, cultivate an individual style and keep cricket at the centre of their professional work.
