SRINAGAR: Traffic Police Srinagar has announced restrictions and diversions on key roads around SKICC ahead of the inauguration of the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) on Monday evening.
The restrictions will be in place from 4 pm to 7 pm on September 7, or until the inauguration ceremony concludes, whichever is later, to regulate the expected increase in traffic towards the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC).
General vehicular movement on Gupkar Road will remain restricted during the specified period. The route will be available only to invitees, festival participants, VVIPs and staff associated with the event.
Restrictions will also be enforced at Badyari Chowk and Brein Chowk for vehicles heading towards the SKICC-Nehru Park area. The movement of general traffic will not be permitted on these routes, except for hotel guests and local residents.
As part of the diversion plan, vehicles travelling towards Nishat will be routed through Gupkar and Hazratbal. Traffic approaching from the Nishat and Harwan sides will also be diverted towards Hazratbal to ease congestion around SKICC.
Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and avoid the affected roads during the restriction period. Motorists have been asked to comply with directions issued by personnel deployed in the area and cooperate with the traffic management arrangements.
Emergency vehicles will be permitted to use the shortest available route, subject to necessary traffic regulation.

The arrangements have been made to facilitate the movement of dignitaries, participants and guests attending the IFFJK inauguration at SKICC.
