SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Srinagar, in connection with FIR No. 87/2022, registering offences under Sections 209, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.
The chargesheet names six individuals as accused, including Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan of Sopore, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Mudasir Yousuf Wani, Ghulam Mohammad Reshi, Bashir Ahmad Dar—all from Sopore—and Anoop Mishra from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
The case arose from a communication alleging tampering of official records submitted to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in TA No. 4100/2021 by the office of the Chief Horticulture Officer. Subsequent investigation revealed that records in CAT Srinagar were unlawfully altered.
Authorities found that the prime accused, Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, in conspiracy with CAT employee Anoop Mishra and other departmental employees, made unauthorised insertions in the documents related to their regularisation in the Horticulture Department. Investigators recovered at least twelve official seals belonging to various offices, including the Director of Horticulture, BDOs, Tehsildars, ZEOs, and educational institutions, from Khan’s residence.
Call detail records and WhatsApp communications retrieved from Khan’s seized mobile phone corroborated the conspiracy and criminal breach of trust by Mishra.
The chargesheet has now been submitted before the CJM for judicial proceedings
